|Sathya Sai Human Values Program|
There is a powerful sense of unity worldwide in the development and implementation of the Sathya Sai Human Values Program. Although Sathya Sai Baba has not overtly designed the Program, His discourses and personal guidance to devotees committed to the Education Wing of the Sai Organisation ensure that it is all taking shape according to His will.
There is clear agreement amongst the Sai devotees throughout the world on the specific components which go together to make up the Sathya Sai Human Values program, although each country has the freedom to color and adapt the program to suit their own needs and culture. These components are listed below.
Sathya Sai Baba as the Founder of the program:
The correct name of the Program is the Sathya Sai Human Values Program and His name must be included in any public reference to it.
Divinity as the basis of the Program:
The Human Values can only be taught if they are defined and understood as representing attributes of the Divinity within us all.
The five Human Values:
Love, Truth, Peace, Right Conduct and Non-violence define the evolved character of a person who is living according to his inner Divinity.
Unity of Faiths:
The founders of all religions taught the one Truth, that the one God is omnipresent in every atom and cell that we are all love-filled waves on this infinite Ocean of God.
Teachers and parents as role-models:
The first requirement for teaching the Human Values to children is for the teachers and parents to be living examples of the Values.
The five Teaching Techniques:
The teaching mediums of Silent Sitting, Prayers/Quotations, Group Singing, Story Telling and Group Activities are all used by the Sai Teacher to give the children the opportunity to understand, reaffirm and love by the five universal Human Values.
Standard lesson Plan structure:
When planning the weekly Lesson for SSE or Community EHV classes the Sai Teacher follows an international standard format of utilizing the five Teaching Techniques to highlight a particular sub-Value selected from the national syllabus for that age-group.
SSE = EHV + SAI:
There is no essential difference between Sai Spiritual Education classes (SSE or Bal Vikas) and Community EHV classes, except that stories about the life of Sai Baba are included in the SSE classes as well as some practice and explanation of the rituals at the Sai Centre (e.g. The Vibhuthi song).
