Prashanthi Nilayam 75 Year-Old Chronicle

The last seventy-five years have been momentous years in the history of mankind with the unfoldment of the Divine Mission of Bhagawan Sathya Sai Baba. Below are landmark events and milestones in the mission of the Sai Saga till date.


1926: Puttaparthi is blessed by the Divine Advent on November 23.
1934-37: Attended elementary school in Puttaparthi and Bukkapatnam.
1938-40: Joined Uravakonda High School.
1940: The declaration of Avatarhood by Sri Sathya Sai Baba on 23-05-1940
The 'SCORPION BITE' the first transcorporeal journey to save a devotee on
08-03-1940 Revelation as Shiva at Hampi temple on 19-10-1940.
Proclamation at Uravakonda: "I am no longer your Sathya. I am Sai. My work is calling me. " The first bhajan song, also a call to mankind: "Manasa Bhajare Guru Charanam". 20-10-1940.
1945: Construction of the old Mandir.
1947 Historic letter to his brother, explaining His Mission and His Determination on 25-05-1947.
1950: Inauguration of Prashanthi Nilayam on the 25th Birthday of Bhagawan on 23-11-1950.
1956: Inauguration of the General Hospital at Puttaparthi on 04-10-1956.
1957: Planting of Vatavriksha(Meditation tree) on 04-07-1957
Visit to Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Kashmir July - August.
1958: Publication of Sanathana Sarathi started on 16-02-1958.
Visit to Kanyakumari. Tribute to Bhagawan by three seas: A pearl garland offered at the Lotus Feet by the seas on 22-12-1958.
1960: Visit to Ayodhya, Benaras & Allahabad March- April.


1961: Visit to Badrinath in June.
Commencement of Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yagna during Dassera on 06-10-1961.
1962: Inauguration of All India Prashanthi Vidwan Maha Sabha on 16-10-1962.
1963: Guru Purnima- the miracle of compassion. Bhagawan taking upon himself the paralysis of a devotee. Also announces that He is Shiva -Shakthi Swaroopa on 06-07-1963.
1964: Establishment of Ashram at Brindavan on 13-04-1964.
1965: Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi (later christened Sri Sathya Sai Organisation) founded.
1966: Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas was started.
1967: Prasanthi Nilayam declared as a township on 04-08-1967.
1968: Inauguration of Dharmakshetra at Mumbai on 12-05-1968.
Inauguration of First World Conference by Swami on 16-05-1968.
Sai leaves on first overseas trip to East Africa in July. Visit to Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya
Starting of Sri Sathya Sai Women's College in Anantapur on 22-07-1968.
1969: Inauguration of Sri Sathya Sai Arts and Science College for men at Brindavan on 09-06-1969.
1970: Visit to Dwarka & inauguration of Digvijay dwar of the Somnath Temple in May.


1972: Swami inaugurates First Summer Course on Indian Culture & Spirituality in May.
Swami inaugurates Smt.Eswaramma High School at Puttaparthi on 20-07-1972.
Swami inaugurates Poornachandra Auditorium in Prashanthi Nilayam on 17-10-1972.
1973: Shivam inaugurated at Hyderabad, the Capital of Andhra Pradesh on 05-04-1973.
1975: Turning back the floods in Chitravathi to save the village of Puttaparthi on 26-08-1975.
Second World Conference held at Prashanthi. 50th Birthday on 23-11-1975. Inauguration of Sarva Dharma Aikya Stupa and helicopter darshan.
1976: Inauguration of Sri Sathya Sai Hospital at Whitefield on 28-08-1976.
1978: Swami inaugurates Sri Sathya Sai College Building at Brindavan in Bangalore, the Capital of Karnataka.
1979: Inauguration of Sri Sathya Sai College, Prasanthi Nilayam on 01-07-1979.
1980: Third World Conference conducted. 55th Birthday on 23-11-1980.

     

1981: Inauguration of Sundaram at Madras (now called Chennai, the State Capital of Tamil Nadu).
Formation of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, now a Deemed University on 22-11-1981.
Inauguration of Sri Sathya Sai Primary School and Higher Secondary School, Prasanthi Nilayam.
1983: International Bal Vikas Rally; birth of the Sri Sathya Sai Vidyagiri Stadium in December.
1984: Inauguration of Trayee Brindavan at Whitefield, Bangalore on 26-04-1984.
1985: Sri Sathya Sai Space Theatre comes up at Puttaparthi. Sixtieth Birthday Celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba; Fourth World Conference of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation.
1990: Museum of Eternal Heritage inaugurated at Puttaparthi. Sixty-fifth Birthday Celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba; Fifth World Conference of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation.

     
   

1991: Inauguration of Sri Sathya Sai Airport, Prasanthi Nilayam on 19-11-1991.
Formation of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, five kilometer away from Prashanthi Nilayam on 22-11-1991.
1995: Sai Kulwant Darshan Hall comes up at Prashanthi Nilayam.
Sri Sathya Sai Drinking Water Project (Stage I) for Anantapur district dedicated to the State of Andhra Pradesh on 12-07-1995.
Inauguration of Sri Sathya Sai Water Supply Project (II Stage) on 18-11-1975.
Seventieth Birthday Celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba;
Inauguration of Sri Sathya Sai Water Supply Project (III Stage) by Dr.Shankar Dayal Sharma, President of India;
Sixth World Conference of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation on 23-11-1995.
1997: International Sri Sathya Sai Unity Cup for Cricket conducted in the beautiful Sri Sathya Sai Hill View Stadium.
First Sri Sathya Sai World Youth Conference on 16-07-1997.
1999: Second Sri Sathya Sai Drinking Water Project for Mahbubnagar District at a cost of Rs. 20 crores dedicated to the State of Andhra Pradesh.
Second Sri Sathya Sai World Youth Conference on 18-11-1999
Announcement of the establishment of Sri Sathya Sai Super Speciality Hospital at Whitefield; School for Music & Performing Arts at Prasanthi Nilayam.

   
 

2000: Bus depot at Puttaparthi.
Bhagawan announces on 06-10-2000 Rural Service by the students and staff of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, starting from November 1, 2000
Rail link provided at Puttaparthi. Bangalore - Prashanthi Express started on 22-11-2000
Chaityana Museum inaugurated at Puttaparthi on 18-11-2000
Sri Sathya Sai Music College- Sai Mirpuri College of Music at Puttaparthi on 20-11-2000.
Seventy-fifth Birthday Celebrations; Seventh World Conference of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations on 23-11-2000.
2001: Inauguration of Sri Sathya Sai Super Specialities Hospital at Bangalore on 19-01-2001.

Radio Sai Global Harmony inaugurated which is a broadcast channel 24 hours a day on Swami's speeches and music, through electronic digital sound presented by Mr. Michael Nobel - a direct descendant of Alfred Nobel, the founder of the Nobel Prize and one of the Members of the Board of Directors of the World Space Corporation. In a world torn by conflicts and disharmony, the message of Bhagawan through digital radio would radiate peace and harmony. One can listen to the Golden voice all the 24 hours in the day in any part of the world through satellite on your digital radio.
2002: Bhagavan's Statue installed at Guru Poornima .The Statue is placed in the Prashanthi Mandiram
Dassera - Bhagavan installed the Shirdi statue at the Stadium.
